The Theatre Tour, now in its 29th year, is Preservation Detroit’s biggest tour of the year and its most popular tradition!
Join us for a wonderful day behind-the-scenes at Detroit’s legendary movie palaces with Preservation Detroit’s Annual Movie Palaces of Detroit Tour, one of Michigan’s most unique architectural history tours. The tour takes place on Saturday, August 26 and tickets are on sale now!
The Theatre Tour takes visitors behind the scenes at several historic venues from the golden age of theater, cinema and architecture in Detroit, including the Detroit Opera House, the Fox, the Gem, Music Hall, the Fillmore Theatre, and the Michigan (currently an iconic parking garage).
The 4.5-hour guided walking tour includes a lunch at the Detroit Opera House. Tours begin at the Detroit Opera House at 9:00 AM and run on the half-hour. Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your start time for check in.
