Midtown – Departs from Avalon Bakery – Set on Detroit’s original ribbon farms, this dynamic neighborhood became an upscale living enclave for Detroit’s movers and shakers! See some of the city’s most cherished historic homes and avant-garde businesses. Cultural Center – Departs from Detroit Public Library, Woodward entrance – The vision for Detroit’s Cultural Center began more than 100 years ago and has continued to evolve through decades. Minoru Yamasaki – Departs from the Josephine Ford Sculpture Garden, located at John R and Kirby behind the DIA, on the College for Creative Studies campus – Detroit-based architect Minoru Yamasaki enjoyed an international reputation for his architectural vision. Locally he designed office buildings, houses of worship, educational institutions, and residences. His local legacy includes five buildings located in Detroit’s Cultural Center. Cass Corridor – Departs from the Mackenzie House at 4735 Cass Ave. – The Cass Corridor, like the city of Detroit itself, has undergone many transformations since it was first subdivided following the Civil War. Though many of the architectural wonders were lost by the end of the century, residents fought to restore and improve their neighborhood. Today many buildings are restored and others have been converted to other uses along with new construction. May30, Aug 29

Saturdays at 10:00 AM, tours depart from the Welcome Center, located between Sheds Two and Three at 1445 Adelaide. Experience the sights, sounds and smells of America’s oldest and largest outdoor farmers market. From woodlands to cemeteries, railroads, prisons, breweries, rum-running, and crime, find out what makes Eastern Market so fascinating and learn about the exciting plans for its future. Items to note about our tours:
Advance ticket purchases are available until noon the Friday before the tour. If there is a date missing from the tour page, the tour for that location/date is sold out. **Please note that tickets are will call and won’t be shipped!** Tickets may be refunded up to 7 days prior to the date of a tour; after that, tickets are not refundable. Walk up pricing, where offered, is cash only.
All tours take place rain or shine. Please arrive 15 minutes before the start of the tour. For any and all tours we offer, we request that groups of 5 to 10 pre-register. Groups of 15 or more should consider booking a private tour.
