Detroit Bikes! Tours on Two Wheels
Preservation Detroit has teamed up with Detroit Bikes! (the group, not the company) to offer bike tours in Detroit. Rides range from 14 to 24 miles, and can last up to 3 hours. Attendees do not need to RSVP or pre-register. We ask for a $5 suggested donation but members of Preservation Detroit can ride for free. Additional 2018 dates will be added soon! Spring Training Ride Sunday April 7 at 10am, please arrive by 9:45am – a sports themed event in which the riders will cruise past current and past Detroit sports venues, including Comerica Park, Ford Field, Tiger Stadium (RIP), Olympia Stadium (RIP), Recreation Park, Keyworth Stadium, Veteran’s Memorial Park, and others.
Grand Boulevard Shore 2 Shore Bike Ride Sunday May 20, please arrive by 9:45am – We will be riding Grand Boulevard – East and West – from the Detroit River to the Detroit River! More info can be found here.
Fathers Day Coney Ride Sunday June 17 at 10am, please arrive by 9:45am – Honoring our history doesn’t just mean learning about important people, structures and events, but also enjoying the food and culture that helped shape this city (and region)! Join us for a special Father’s Day bike ride…visiting the better and lesser known Coney Islands in the city!
Book and Bike Ride Sunday June 24 at 10am, please arrive by 9:45am – We will be visiting some of Detroit’s historic neighborhoods and the ‘Little Free Libraries’ that can be found in these neighborhoods. Kim Kozlowski of ‘Little Free Libraries’ will be our tour guide and suggests that everyone bring a couple of books to place in one of the libraries. Children’s books, particularly ethnic books, preferred.
Modernism Ride date, time and start location TBA – We will be exploring some of the better and lesser known Art Deco and Modern gems in the city of Detroit. More info will be available soon.
Rock N Roll Never Forgets Ride Saturday October 13 at 10am, please arrive by 9:45am, start location at Tony V’s (formerly known as Alvin’s) - Join us in the reissue of the of Rock and Roll Never Forgets rides, hosted by our own Mark "The Mord" Morden. Once again, Mark will share his encyclopedic knowledge of everything Rock and Roll with us, as we ride to some of the venues that have made us Detroit Rock City!
We'll be starting (and ending) this year's ride at Tony V's on Cass near Wayne State University. Detroit Old Schoolers should remember this location as Alvin's, the host of many rock and roll shows! Check out the Facebook event for more info.
Detroit Ghost Signs Ride Saturday October 20 at 10am, please arrive by 9:45am, start location TBA – This is a very relaxed pace, meandering ride, in which we seek out those faded, sometimes painted over, scarred relics of our City’s past. We’ll ride through some of our City’s secondary streets, through the alleys, and wherever our curiosity takes us! Check out the Facebook event for more info.
Java Junket XII Saturday November 10 at 9am, please arrive by 8:45am, start location at Bikes & Coffee, 5063 Trumbull – We will be visiting some of Detroit’s lesser and better known coffee stops and shops and check out the surrounding historic neighborhoods along the way. Independent coffee shops have historically opened out of the need to foster community and activate vacant spaces within neighborhoods. You’ll see some great examples of smart adaptive reuse of existing structures. Check out the Facebook event for more info.

All tours take place rain or shine. In cases of inclement weather, visit the link listed for the ride for more info. Please arrive 15 minutes before the start of the ride. For safety and liability reasons, we ask that you wear a helmet. We also suggest that you bring a spare tube, just in case!
