Preservation In Progress Tours

Preservation in Progress Tours with Preservation Detroit grant you one-of-a-kind, in-depth access to buildings not often open to the public.

These tours will be a peek behind closed doors at Detroit’s exciting new renovation projects on historic properties and areas not normally open to tours. Each tour will have an expert on hand from the building to answer questions about its history, the progress and changes made, and plans for the future. The tour will also be accompanied by an established Preservation Detroit guide for a broader discussion of how each location figures into Detroit history.

Preservation in Progress tours begin and end at a single location and offer detailed, expert presentations on the challenges and rewards of preserving Detroit’s historic legacy by the people doing the hard work. Some tours may require hard hats; all of the tours require comfortable, hard-toed shoes and a sense of adventure!

Preservation in Progress: Woodbridge, Patterson Vet Turns 175, Ty Cobb Home | Saturday, July 20
Join us for a tour of Historic Woodbridge, a National Historic Landmark Neighborhood. Woodbridge is one of Detroit’s most intact, and certainly one of its most beautiful, Victorian residential neighborhoods. It is a shining example of the power of individual citizens like Dr. Graham and her neighbors, who, faced with the wrecking ball, banded together and saved their historic structures.
