Explore Dynamic Detroit Midtown

On the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month, we explore Detroit’s exciting Midtown neighborhood, home to dramatic changes in recent years.

Set on some of Detroit’s original French ribbon farms, this dynamic neighborhood became home to Detroit’s movers and shakers! Learn about its role in the early days of the automotive industry as well as its leading role in the city’s historic preservation efforts. See some of the city’s most cherished historic homes, renovated buildings, restaurants, and avant-garde businesses. From its days on the farm to today’s vibrant urban neighborhood, Midtown is full of distinctly Detroit stories.

The tour departs from Avalon Canfield at 441 West Canfield between Cass and Second Ave. Please meet outside the entrance door.

Parking: Metered and non-metered street parking is available in the immediate area. Paid parking is also available on nearby surface lots.

Items to note about our tours:

THIS IS A WALKING TOUR. All guests should be prepared to walk, sometimes on surfaces under construction, for more than two hours.

All tours take place rain or shine and are about 2 to 2.5 hours long. Please arrive 15 minutes before the start of the tour. Advance ticket purchases are available through 6pm the Friday before the tour. If there is a date missing from the Eventbrite page, the tour for that location/date is sold out. Tickets may be refunded up to 7 days prior to the date of a tour; after that, tickets are not refundable.
